Este artigo apresenta o desenho Learn-As-you-GO (LAGO), uma metodologia inovadora que otimiza intervenções de saúde complexas e multi-componentes adaptando-as durante a execução do estudo para garantir eficácia, poder estatístico e redução de custos, demonstrando como essa abordagem poderia ter evitado o fracasso do estudo BetterBirth na Índia e sendo aplicada em ensaios atuais sobre HIV e doenças não transmissíveis.
