Effect of ultrasonic impact treatment on microstructure and properties of Ti6Al4V titanium alloy manufactured by laser directed energy deposition

This study demonstrates that applying ultrasonic impact treatment to laser-directed energy deposited Ti6Al4V coatings refines the microstructure and surface quality without altering phase composition, thereby significantly enhancing wear and corrosion resistance through grain boundary and plastic deformation strengthening.

Prolonged Static Aging of Olefin-Based Inverse Emulsion Drilling Fluids: Temperature–Time Effects on Rheology, Stability, and Filtration

This study demonstrates that prolonged static aging at elevated temperatures (100–150°C) induces irreversible interfacial degradation and structural reorganization in olefin-based inverse emulsion drilling fluids, leading to significant changes in rheology, emulsion stability, and filtration performance that challenge current fluid integrity management practices in deepwater operations.

Enhanced wear resistance of fine-grained Ni-based coating via annealing-induced phase transformation

This study demonstrates that annealing a thermally sprayed amorphous Ni-based coating at 800°C induces a beneficial phase transformation into a refined three-phase microstructure, which significantly enhances wear resistance by combining the plasticity of a ductile solid solution with the hardness of intermetallic phases, thereby overcoming the typical limitations of grain coarsening and brittleness.
