Seasonal dynamics of microcystins in Yanghe Reservoir, Northern China, and their responses to environmental factors
This study reveals that microcystin concentrations in Yanghe Reservoir peaked in summer and exceeded WHO safety limits, with dissolved toxin levels preceding intracellular maxima and correlating positively with phosphorus and chlorophyll-a, thereby highlighting severe public health risks and the need for targeted nutrient control and enhanced monitoring.
