Tectonic collapse and the geological masking of Paleolithic human occupations at Gruta da Companheira (southern Portugal)
This study demonstrates how seismotectonic collapse and subsequent carbonate cementation at Gruta da Companheira in southern Portugal buried and preserved a Paleolithic occupation sequence, suggesting that similar geological processes may have masked a richer and better-preserved regional archaeological record than is currently visible.
