From Land-Cover Transitions to Water Conflict: A Systematic Review of Hydrological Variability, Resource Competition and Governance Responses in Intermittent River Catchments
This systematic review synthesizes evidence from 104 studies to demonstrate that water-related conflict in intermittent river catchments is driven not by physical scarcity alone, but by coupled socio-hydrological processes where land-cover transitions and hydrological variability intensify resource competition, necessitating governance responses that address both ecological and institutional dimensions.
