Camera-trap distance sampling reveals density patterns and anthropogenic drivers of terrestrial mammals in a remnant forest refuge in West Africa
This study utilizes camera-trap distance sampling to demonstrate that the Lama Classified Forest in Benin remains a critical stronghold for a functionally diverse mammal assemblage, while revealing that species distribution is shaped by a complex trade-off between avoiding human settlements and exploiting anthropogenic resources near forest edges.
