New Bounds on Heavy QCD Axions from Big Bang Nucleosynthesis
This paper establishes robust upper bounds on heavy QCD axion lifetimes as low as 0.017 seconds by analyzing Big Bang Nucleosynthesis constraints on neutron-to-proton ratio modifications from hadronic decays, a limit that surpasses projected future CMB bounds and remains largely insensitive to hadronic uncertainties.
