Albumin Variability and Biological Instability Associated With ESA Hyporesponsiveness in Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients
This retrospective study of maintenance hemodialysis patients demonstrates that albumin variability, rather than absolute values, is the strongest independent biological marker associated with erythropoiesis-stimulating agent (ESA) hyporesponsiveness, suggesting that monitoring albumin instability could help identify patients at risk for deteriorating ESA efficacy.
