Effects of Storage Conditions on Postharvest Quality and Shelf Life of Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) in Mekelle, Tigray, Ethiopia
This study conducted in Mekelle, Ethiopia, demonstrates that while refrigeration at 4°C is the most effective method for extending the shelf life of tomatoes to 21 days, the low-cost, energy-efficient pot-in-pot evaporative cooling system also significantly improves postharvest quality and extends shelf life to 19 days compared to ambient LDPE packaging.
