Assessing Human Thermal Stress in the Maldives: A Comparative Analysis of UTCI and Apparent Temperature
This study analyzes 51 years of temperature data and compares the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) with Apparent Temperature (AT) across the Maldives to reveal a significant long-term warming trend and increased heat stress, concluding that while both indices are effective for monitoring, AT provides a more sensitive basis for establishing national heat warning thresholds.
