This quasi-experimental study involving 136 second-year medical students found that while both facilitator-led and AI-mediated problem-based learning (PBL) significantly improved pharmacology knowledge, facilitator-led PBL resulted in superior critical thinking and group dynamics, whereas AI-mediated PBL offered better access to resources and discussion, suggesting a hybrid model combining both approaches may be most effective for medical education.
