Geographic accessibility to childbirth care in Lubumbashi city, Democratic Republic of Congo using a census-based database of health facilities and context-specific travel speeds
This study utilizes a comprehensive census-based database and context-specific travel speeds to reveal that while primary-level childbirth care is geographically accessible to most women in Lubumbashi, DRC, hospital-level care remains effectively inaccessible for the poorest populations and those in peripheral areas due to significant travel time disparities driven by unplanned urban growth and low facility density.
