Does climate shape plant immune gene repertoires? A phylogenetically controlled test across angiosperms
This study demonstrates that while climate and geography are not robust predictors of immune receptor gene content across angiosperms once phylogenetic relationships are accounted for, woody and tree growth forms are consistently associated with elevated counts of specific cell-surface receptor genes, particularly LysM-RLKs.
