Dysbiotic shifts in intestinal Streptococcus, Veillonella, and butyrate-producing bacteria are associated with disease severity in hepatitis E
This study utilizes shotgun metagenomic profiling to demonstrate that dysbiotic shifts characterized by an increased ratio of *Streptococcus* and *Veillonella*-associated species (sCAG5 and sCAG4) to butyrate-producing bacteria (sCAG10) serve as a novel intestinal microbial indicator of hepatitis E disease severity.
