Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals in Rural Indonesia Using Evidence from North Sumatra
This qualitative study of two villages in North Sumatra reveals that while Sustainable Development Goals are partially reflected in local practices, their implementation remains unstructured and ineffective due to limited awareness, insufficient capacity, and weak sociocultural integration, highlighting the critical need for enhanced local understanding, institutional capacity building, and multi-stakeholder collaboration to achieve sustainable, community-driven development.
