Butterfly diversity is lower in historically redlined neighborhoods: evidence from 151 US cities
This study demonstrates that historically redlined neighborhoods across 151 US cities support significantly lower butterfly diversity than higher-graded areas, a disparity primarily driven by the lack of developed open space and high-intensity development in formerly redlined zones, suggesting that urban greening in these areas could simultaneously address biodiversity loss and environmental injustice.
