How Do Exports and Imports Drive Per Capita Carbon Emissions? A Spatial Panel Analysis of the Persian Gulf Region
This spatial panel analysis of seven Persian Gulf countries from 1995 to 2020 confirms the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis and reveals that both exports and imports significantly increase per capita CO₂ emissions, with imports having a stronger impact, thereby urging policymakers to adopt cleaner production technologies and carbon-efficient trade structures to mitigate environmental degradation.
