CHA₂DS₂-VASc Score for Pre-Procedural Prediction of Contrast-Associated Acute Kidney Injury After Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction: A Head-to-Head Comparison with the Mehran Score
In a prospective cohort of STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI, the pre-procedural CHA₂DS₂-VASc score demonstrated comparable predictive accuracy for contrast-associated acute kidney injury to the post-procedural Mehran score, offering a practical, bedside alternative for risk stratification in resource-limited settings where laboratory data is unavailable prior to the procedure.
