Discontinuation of Antiseizure Medication Before Versus After Hospital Discharge Following Acute Symptomatic Seizures Related to Neonatal Encephalopathy: A Retrospective Cohort Study and Caregiver Survey
This retrospective cohort study and caregiver survey demonstrate that discontinuing antiseizure medications before hospital discharge for neonatal encephalopathy-related acute symptomatic seizures, compared to continuing them at discharge, significantly reduces neurology-related emergency visits, hospital readmissions, laboratory monitoring, and caregiver treatment burden.
