Prevalence and factors associated with illicit non-injecting drug use among individuals at high risk of HIV infection in rural southwestern Uganda
In a study of 940 adults at high risk of HIV in rural southwestern Uganda, 18.3% reported illicit non-injecting drug use, with significantly higher odds observed among sex workers, those with older sexual partners, individuals engaging with long-distance truck drivers or miners, and those having condomless sex with partners of unknown HIV status, highlighting the need for integrated substance abuse and HIV prevention strategies.
