Early Serum Interleukin-6 Discriminates Meconium Aspiration Syndrome in Symptomatic Term Infants Born Through Meconium-Stained Amniotic Fluid
This study demonstrates that early serum interleukin-6 levels measured within the first 6 hours of life serve as a highly accurate biomarker for distinguishing meconium aspiration syndrome from other respiratory symptoms in term infants born through meconium-stained amniotic fluid, provided they do not have chorioamnionitis or severe perinatal asphyxia.
