Lag-adjusted functional network connectivity reveals sensorimotor and higher cognitive network alterations in depression
By applying lag-adjusted functional connectivity analysis to resting-state fMRI data from 235 MDD patients and 284 healthy controls, this study reveals that depression is characterized not only by specific hyper- and hypo-connectivity patterns between sensorimotor and cognitive networks but also by a compressed inter-network timing that reflects altered neural coordination beyond simple connectivity strength.
