This single-centre retrospective study comparing robotic preperitoneal extended totally extraperitoneal (rPeTEP) and robotic transabdominal preperitoneal (rTAPP) repairs for primary midline ventral hernias found that while both techniques are safe and feasible, rPeTEP offers the advantage of reduced early postoperative pain and suitability for extensive rectus divarication, whereas rTAPP demonstrates a shorter learning curve and better accommodates concomitant intra-abdominal procedures.
