Comparison of simple bedside tests for probable sarcopenia and their association with postoperative recovery after lumbar disc herniation surgery: a pilot study
This pilot study demonstrates that probable sarcopenia identified by simple bedside tests, particularly the five-time sit-to-stand test, independently predicts prolonged hospital stays and delayed ambulation after lumbar disc herniation surgery, while the low agreement between different screening tools suggests they should be used complementarily rather than interchangeably for preoperative risk assessment.
