Attenuation of typical sex differences in the time-resolved functional connectivity of the fusiform gyrus in autism
This study utilizes micro co-activation patterns analysis on resting-state fMRI data to reveal that autism is characterized by an attenuation and reversal of typical sex differences in the dynamic functional connectivity and spatial extent of fusiform gyrus subregions coupled with the default mode network, highlighting sex as a critical dimension of neurobiological heterogeneity in social cognition.
