PolySUMOylation restrains ubiquitination to protect fragile genomic loci during replication stress in fission yeast
This study demonstrates that in fission yeast, polySUMOylation safeguards fragile ribosomal DNA during replication stress by inhibiting K63-linked polyubiquitination of the homologous recombination factor Rad52, thereby preventing its aberrant accumulation and genomic instability.
