Biological costs associated with metabolic and target-site insecticide resistance in Anopheles gambiae: evidence from the E205D-CYP6P3 and L995F-kdr markers in field populations from Cameroon
This study demonstrates that in *Anopheles gambiae* populations from Cameroon, metabolic resistance (E205D-CYP6P3) and target-site resistance (L995F-kdr) impose distinct, stage-specific fitness costs that lead to the rapid decline of target-site mutations but the persistence of metabolic resistance under relaxed insecticide pressure, highlighting the need for mechanism-tailored resistance management strategies.
