This study investigates how technical factors like statistical equivalence and algorithmic opacity, alongside system transparency and explanations, influence students' perceptions of fairness, trust, and acceptance of algorithm-driven high-stakes examinations, revealing that while statistical factors drive perceived fairness, clear explanations and fairness are the most critical predictors of algorithmic legitimacy and acceptance.
