Controlling the Transverse Multipole Components in RF Cavity Modes using the Azimuthal Modulation Method
This paper extends a systematic method for designing azimuthally modulated RF cavities to practical implementation by deriving analytical expressions for field multipole components and momentum changes, validating them against 3D simulations and beam dynamics studies, and demonstrating their application in creating both multipole-free accelerating structures and cavities that transform beam distributions from Gaussian to uniform.
